L\u2019acciaio viene riscaldato in atmosfera controllata a una temperatura compresa tra 900 \u00b0C e 1.000 \u00b0C. Cos\u00ec facendo il carbonio si arricchisce nello strato superficiale.\nIn questo modo la durezza della superficie del componente aumenta, mentre per contro il cuore rimane deformabile.
